Birthday Party

We threw a birthday party today to celebrate 3 persons birthdays who are so close apart. To be exact, the party was yesterday, 22 Nov. So who are the birthday boys or gals?

They are........ Robin 22 Nov, Sheryl 23 Nov and Jason 27 Nov.

To spare all our colleagues of the annual November cake-eating marathon, we decided to throw a 3 in 1 birthday party. But no, none of us were spared. Cakophobic still exist !

Drum roll..... in total, the office had 6 cakes. Majority are for Robin.

1st Cake of the Day - for Robin. With compliments from Eugene / AIG, Risa / AIG and Juliana / Travelex. It was such a marvellous Black Forest cake from an 'atas' 5-star hotel.

Next in line shortly after, 2nd Cake of the Day for Robin. With Compliments from TMIS. A mixed fruit cake and a basket of flowers and a smilely balloon. So cute !

Shortly, we began our buffet lunch. Look at the table, we had so much food !!!! Can you imagine? 2 roast duck, 1 kg roast pork, 2 curries with Delifrance baguette, 1 rojak, 2 popiah, 1 box pan-fried dumplings, 2 fried rice, 2 fried noodles, 2 fried hokkien prawn mee, 1 packet bak kua, 1 red and 1 white wine, 1 bagful of fruits, 12 ang ku kuehs, cakes, and cakes, and more cakes, still cakes !!!!!! for 16 of us.

Presenting 3rd Cake of the Day - for Robin. With compliments from all of us, the staff !

Do you like this cake? We made - to - order for Robin. He has a liking to those traditional butter cream cake and we purposely make sure the cake is in his favourite and lucky colour.

Let us present you 4th Cake of the Day (Tiger Roll) - for Sheryl, with compliments from office too. 5th 'Cake' of the Day - for Jason (a plate of Ang Ku Kuehs), also compliments from office.

Our presents (from everyone in the office) and us !

It was such an impromto decision while shopping for the 'Happy Birthday' banner that we turned this party into a mini Mardi Gras.

We ended the party with everyone becoming part of the Mardi Gras 'Parade'.

The party ended minutes after 2pm. We transformed the conference room back into the original state within a short time. One of us was trying to camouflouge the green hats we had after the party. So, she tried to tie red shiny garland over the green cone.

Take a look at the finished product. Do I look like our X'mas tree ? ? ?

Almost an hour before 6pm, the 6th Cake of the Day arrived. It's for Robin still, with compliments from Anthony Leung / Chan Brothers.

It was such an enjoyable and fun birthday party although it was only about 2 hours. It must also be one of the best party the team ever had.

The Gang Went Fishing !

The team did well for the year and was treated to a fun & exciting afternoon of fishing and a fabulous seafood dinner.

It is located in Pasir Ris Town Park which is just a stone throw's away from Pasir Ris MRT and bus interchange. The big ponds are for the regular and pro anglers, and so we've decided to try our luck at the smaller ponds. If you think you are not there yet, fret not, there is a 'SURE CATCH' pond !

Fishing fish is generally much more fun and also requires more technique. Don't you believe me? See below and Robin will demonstrate to you.

When the fish is caught onto the hook, your fishing rod will bend and shake as the fish is struggling to get off. So you must start to 'fight' with the fish to make it tired. By then, everyone surrounding you will retreat as you will start to walk along the pond while the fish 'fights' with you. With some pull, release and pull, you will lift the fish off the water.

Our First Catch of the Day ! A Pomfret !

Within minutes once the excitement is over, everyone get back to their position, hopping to be the next lucky one. Hee.....

It will definitely be me !!!!!!! Watch Out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the other hand, fishing prawn was much easier and gentler. Look at the ladies. See, We can even sit down, waiting for the prawn to get hook.

The prawns are not biting the bait and we are getting impatient, going to the extent of wanting to use a net to pick up the prawns. Then......the float on my rod dipped, a prawn is hooked !

First Prawn of the Day !

Sunseduently, the prawns are listening to our calling and everyone took turns to hook up a prawn.

Not long after that, it started to drizzle, and it escalated to downpour. BUT IT HAS NOT DAMPEN OUR MOOD ! NOT AT ALL ! See how serious we are.

Umbrellas came to the rescue !

But the rain just got heavier and we had no choice but retreated into the alfresco seafood restaurant to take a rest. By then, it was almost to 6pm and we are getting hungry. So, we started dinner early with our prized catch, 4 pomfrets and 4 prawns. We ordered more dishes to complement our catch. Probably because of the rain, I'm getting very hungry and energy is lacking, my hand shaked while trying to take pictures to show off our cooked fishes.

Assam Steamed Pomfret and Black Soya Sauce Steamed Pomfret

We had such a filling dinner and the rain stopped by the time we finished the meal. Dusk is approaching and so, we got back to the pond and continued fishing. This time, I decided to try my hands on the crab.

I was told that crabs usually hide along the side of the pond and so I walked up and down hoping to get one. I almost got one. But it got slipped when its pincers didn't catch the bait tight enough. The rest was still patiently waiting for fishes as the sun set.

To my surprise, all my colleagues continued to fish quietly and patiently through dark fall while I decided to hang my fishing rod. Hee....... See, it's dark already and the rest are still so diligently waiting to get up a fish.

Finally, I had to put a stop to fishing as we had another agenda. We are going K-ing ! We had actually postponed the karaoke from 8pm to 9pm as everyone is still so engrossed in the fishing. We proceeded to K-box at Marine Parade and scrooned the night away.

Ha ha, and we sang until 2am and finally retreated back home.

It was such an wonderful outing and everyone enjoyed thoroughly.
